2026-2027 Chief Resident
We are excited to announce that Dr. Sarah Eley has been selected as our Chief Resident for the 2026–2027 academic year!
As Dr. Katie Trettin begins an exciting new chapter with her move to New Orleans, Dr. Eley will be stepping into the
role of Chief Resident. We are grateful for her willingness to serve and look forward to the continued leadership and dedication she will bring to our residency program.
We would also like to once again thank Dr. Katie Trettin for her hard work and commitment during her time as Chief Resident. Her leadership and service have been invaluable, and we wish her all the best in this next chapter.
We are confident that Dr. Eley will continue the tradition of excellence she has demonstrated throughout her residency and are excited to see the impact of her leadership in the year ahead. Congratulations, Dr. Eley, and thank you, Dr. Trettin, for your outstanding dedication to UMMC Dermatology!

| Lauren “Ashlyn” Fletcher grew up in Calhoun, Georgia. After graduating summa cum laude from Samford University with a degree in nursing and working as a registered nurse in the cardiopulmonary ICU at UAB Hospital, she attended Mercer University School of Medicine in Savannah, Georgia. Ashlyn was inducted as a junior member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Ashlyn will complete her internship in Internal Medicine at UMMC and says she is thrilled to join the Dermatology Department at UMMC. Ashlyn’s husband, Beck, attended the University of Mississippi and works for Shaw Industries. In their free time, they enjoy running, cycling, attending Ole Miss football games, cooking, and playing with their golden retriever, Archie. |

| Avery Watson is a Meridian, Mississippi, native and attended The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa where she graduated summa cum laude with a major in Biology and minor in Spanish. She returned to MS for medical school and attended UMMC where she graduated cum laude in 2025 and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha and Phi Beta Kappa Honor Societies. Avery tells us she is excited to be joining the Department of Dermatology at UMMC after completing her Internal Medicine internship year here. In her free time, Avery enjoys spending time with her dogs, walking and playing pickleball with friends, needlepointing, trying new restaurants and coffee shops, and traveling. |

| Sydney McManus, a proud native of Slidell, Louisiana, graduated summa cum laude from the University of South Alabama with a degree in biomedical sciences. She earned her medical degree from Louisiana State University in New Orleans, where she was inducted as a senior member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Sydney will complete her internship in internal medicine at UMMC and is excited to continue her training with the Dermatology Department at UMMC. Her husband, Tyler, is a new graduate physical therapist with a particular interest in sports and orthopedics. Outside of medicine, Sydney and Tyler enjoy traveling, working out, playing golf, walking their two dogs, Phoebe and Champ, and spending time with family and friends. |

| Sherilyn "Sanders" Goode was born and raised in New Albany, Mississippi. She attended Mississippi College for her undergraduate training where she majored in biology medical sciences and graduated summa cum laude. While in medical school at UMMC, she was inducted into junior alpha omega alpha honor society and the gold humanism honor society. In her free time, Sanders enjoys going on walks with her mini dachshund named Mabel, attending Ole Miss football games with her family, reading/studying at coffee shops, and taking Pilates classes. She adds that she “is absolutely thrilled to be joining the program” at UMMC. |

| Sarah Hayek was born in Bastrop, Louisiana, and raised in Greenville, Mississippi, and has spent significant portions of her life in Beirut, Lebanon. She attended Millsaps College, where she served as tennis captain and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. She attended medical school at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she was inducted into both the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society and the Gold Humanism Honor Society. Sarah is completing her internship in internal medicine at SUNY Downstate in Brooklyn, New York, and states she is ecstatic to join the Dermatology Department at UMMC. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, playing tennis (and recently pickleball), and acrylic painting. |

MOHS Fellowship
Jon Michael was born and raised in Lafayette, Louisiana, earning his undergraduate degree in biology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. He went on to attend medical school at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, where he also chose to remain for his dermatology residency. Outside of the clinic, he is an avid sports fan who enjoys watching football and basketball. In his free time, you can often find him spending time with his wife, Carley, and walking their Golden Retriever, Sunny, around the neighborhood.
